Smart metering pumps were developed as a fuel control/pump combination for small, expendable turbojet engines. The smart metering pump is motor driven and receives its electrical signals from the integrally mounted electronic motor speed controller. The internal leakage of the pump is near zero making outlet flow proportional to speed up to maximum pressure rise.
